Seddon set for Punchestown return

Tuesday, 16 April 2024: The versatile Seddon is expected to return to the track in time for the Punchestown Festival, having not been seen since a credible third in the American Grand National at Far Hills in October.

Seddon  has been an excellent servant for trainer John McConnell  since joining the yard in August 2022, recording two competitive handicap victories before taking the Plate Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023. He followed up with a success at the Punchestown Festival and a repeat bid appears to be on the cards.

"He's Punchestown-bound and hopefully he goes there in good shape, that's the plan with him," said McConnell.

"He had a setback in America and we had to do a little procedure on him and he's coming back from that now.

"He's in good shape and we're hopeful that we can get a good run with him now, he'll probably stay on into the summer.

"We haven't had much of a campaign with him so we're hoping we can get him back to form and kick on with him."

With strong form over hurdles and fences, connections will have different options for Seddon's return.
