Broc Feeney has taken out another win in Melbourne, but a crash between Cam Waters and Matt Payne stole the show.
Flying high after clinching his maiden Supercars pole, Payne came crashing down to earth at Albert Park when an early collision with Waters ruled both drivers out of Saturday's race.
Waters, sharing the front row with the Grove Racing rookie for the 14-lap race, won the starting-grid battle, but Payne snatched the lead by using the inside at turn 11.
The Tickford Racing driver pulled off a similar manoeuvre to reclaim the lead, but his ascendancy was short-lived.
Payne, under pressure with Feeney behind, moved across the track and made contact with the side of Waters' Ford Mustang to send his rival into the wall.
Losing control following the impact, the 21-year-old then spiralled into the barrier to also bring an end to his own race.
Waters could not contain his frustration, jumping out of his car to give Payne a spray on the racetrack.
"He had a pretty cool pass on me at 11 and I was going to try and get him back at 12. It didn't happen," Waters said.
"At 13, he just choked it up and I got in the back of him and got under him.
"I was just trying to set him up for the last corner and he's just come across and I was beside.
"I don't know if he didn't see I was there - but if he didn't know, that's pretty bad spatial awareness.
"It's really bad. Brand new car, put in the wall."
After missing out on a podium place on Friday, Feeney beat teammate Will Brown by 1.791 seconds to find redemption and take out the fifth race of the Supercars season.
Feeney had looked certain to come home second to Brown and crack the fastest lap in race four, before running wide at turn 13 when his foot slipped off the pedal.
"I was pretty fired up last night, pretty disappointed with myself that I could make an error like that," Feeney said.
"Literally my foot fell off, I missed the brake pedal. I felt like I threw away another one, but to get one today is pretty crazy."
He remains second to Brown on the championship standings, 12 points behind the overall leader.
Walkinshaw Andretti United's Chaz Mostert clocked the fastest lap of the race and came third to round out the podium.
