Montefilia has been added to what is shaping as a star-studded
Inglis Chairman's Sale with the four-time Group 1 winner now the most prolific elite-level performer to be offered at the May 4 sale.
Inglis announced on Thursday that the daughter of
Kermadec would be offered alongside the likes of last year's
Empire Rose Stakes winner
Icebath ,
Queen Of The Turf winner
Nimalee ,
Winterbottom Stakes heroine
Graceful Girl , three times Group 1 placed
Swats That and Group 1 producer
Celebrity Miss.
Montefilia, who is now five years old, won the
Flight Stakes (1600m) and
Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) in the spring of her three year-old season, won
The Metropolitan (2400m) 12 months later and last autumn downed champion mare
Verry Elleegant in the
Ranvet Stakes (2000m).
"She is a fantastic race mare who has been beautifully managed by David Payne and his team,'' Inglis CEO Sebastian Hutch said.
"It's hugely exciting to consider what she might yet achieve as a racehorse but beyond that, she has outstanding credentials as a broodmare, with the second generation of her pedigree bringing together Galileo, Sunday Silence, Monsun and Last Tycoon.
"The term 'world-class' is one that we get to use infrequently, but I think Montefilia deserves to be categorised as a world-class racehorse and world-class breeding prospect.''
Montefilia, who resumed with an eye-catching fifth placing in the Group 1
Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) fifth placing last Saturday, is being offered as a racing and breeding proposition.
