Sunlight Shines Again For Zoustar

Monday, 7 October 2019: Zoustar added a new stakes winner among a pair of Group winners at Flemington on Saturday.

His outstanding mare Sunlight added another prestige win to her record with her victory in the G2 Gilgai Stakes, beating old rival Santa Ana Lane as the pair completed their preps for the $13 million Everest at Randwikck on October 19.

She was joined by Zoustar's rising star Haut Brion Her, who became the son of Northern Metyeor's 11th stakes winner in his first two crops with her victory in the G2 Blazer Stakes.

Multiple G1 winner Sunlight, who heads Zoustar's list of 92 winners from 156 runners, has become one of the highest earning sprinters of her generation with $4,306,950 from 11 wins and six placings in 19 starts.

Sunlight  is out of the Charge Forward mare Solar Charged, a dual G3 winner and dam of four winners from five foals to race.

The 4YO mare Haut Brion Her , like Sunlight a member of Zoustar's first racing crop, has taken her recod to five wins and three placings from eight starts.

She is the third black type winner from the Redoute's Choice mare One In A Million, a G2 placed producer of multiple stakes winner Karacatis (Hussonet) and Listed winner Shamillion (Shamardal).

She also produced the unraced Lady Millions (Charge Forward), dam of the stakes-placed Malahide (Shamus Award).

Zoustar, who shuttles to Tweenhills Stud in the UK, is standing on a fee of $154,000 this spring.

Imposing grey stallion Puissance de Lune sired his first stakes winner when Moonlight Maid won the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington to put herself in the frame for a VRC Oaks start.

Moonlight Maid  is becoming a special runner for Puissance De Lune as she also became his first ever winner from his first rop of 65 foals when she won at Geelong in June.

She has now won two of her four starts, earning $225,900 in prizemoney.

The Mitchel Freedman-trained filly is out of the Choisir mare Manhattan Maid, who won four races including the Listed Dequetteville Stakes in Adelaide and is also the dam of the winner Maid Equal (Equiano).

Puissance De Lune, a high class son of Shamardal, was imported to race in Australia as a 3YO after a win and two placings from four starts in France.

He progressed quickly to record four successive wins for the Darren Weir stable including the Listed Bendigo Cup, G3 VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes, G2 Blamey Stakes and G2 PB Lawrence Stakes and was G1 placed in the Makybe Diva Stakes twice, Turnbull Stakes and Memsie stakes.

A three-quarter brother to French G1 winner Zabeel Prince (Lope de Vega), Puissance De Lune is standing in Victoria at Swettenham Stud.

The finish of the Listed Super Impose Stakes at Flemington points to former shuttle sire Declaration Of War playing a strong hand in this year's Victoria Derby.

Declaration Of War, a Coolmore sire now standing in Kentucky, was responsible for the quinella when the impressive Anthony Freedman-trained gelding Warning beat another of the sire's sons Independent Road in the 1800m event.

Warning  (Declaration Of War x Livia by Galileo) looked a real Derby horse when he surged to the line in the last 150m, becoming the 24th stakes winner for his sire and providing Irish jockey Martin Harley with his maiden Australian stakes win.

The Freedman stable plans to run Warning to run in the G3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) on October 19 as he builds towards a Derby start over 2500m on November 2.

Warning was a $65,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale and has now earned $114,900.

He is the second winner from two to race from the Galileo mare Livia, her first foal Galaxy Gazer (Astronomer Royal) wining six times.

Livia is out of the G2 placed mare Flying Spice (Flying Spur), a half-sister to the stakes winner and G1 placegetter Chattanooga (Scenic).

Declaration Of War, a son of War Front, shuttled to Australia for only two seasons in 2014 and 2015.

He is the sire of 172 winners from 313 runners including three G1 winners. In Australia he has sired 43 winners from 83 runners including the G1 Queensland Oaks winer Wining Ways among six stakes winners.

Winning Ways was also back in wining form at Eagle Farm in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Grahame Begg-trained 2YO filly Mildred became the 20th stakes winner by the late sire Hinchinbrok when she maintained her unbeaten record at Flemington on Saturday.She added the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) after landing Victoria's first juvenile race of the season over 900m at the same course last month.

Mildred  (Hinchinbrook x Tempsest Tost by Statue Of Liberty) is raced by former champion trainer Neville Begg and was purchased by his trainer son Grahame for $45,000 at the Sydney Classic Yearling Sale from the Middlebrook Valley draft.

Mildred has already earned $133,700 from her two wins. Her dam Tempest Tost won four races including the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy and is among 12 winers from the grand producer Lady Violet (Old Crony).

They include the G1 winner Notoire (Export Price) and the 12-time winner Well Known (The Pug) won 12 races, headed by the Listed June S. and Civic H.

Hinchinbrook is the sire of 232 winners from 354 runners including the G1`winners Beat the Clock, Press Statement, Seabrook and Spright.

The son of Fastnet Rock died last year after an exercise accident at Yarraman Park Stud.

The Shawn Mathrick-trained Rich Itch recorded his first stakes victory in the Listed Paris Lane Stakes at Flemington.

Mathrick bought the son of Danerich for $60,000 at the VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale from his breeders Rangal Park Stud.

He has now had 17 starts for three wins and seven placings, earning more than $240,000.

Rich Itch , among 93 winners by Danerich including nine stakes winners, is out of the Keltrice mare Seven Year Itch, also the dam of the Listed winner Scratchy Lass (U.S. Ranger).

His second dam Love to Honor (Honor Grades) is a half-sister to the Caulfield and Melbourne winner Viewed (Scenic).
