Pakenham: Race 10 @ 4.30pm

Myopic to lead but there are a few others that will keep the pressure up. LORD MAPPERLEY (4) has really caught the eye in two runs this prep, both over six-furlongs at Moe. Has settled back in the field on each occasion then launched late to get up for 2nd. His only win came at today's distance - the extra furlong has come at the right time. TOORAK WARRIOR (2) rallied late but just missed in a BM70 over this course and distance two starts ago. Disappointed at the Ballarat synthetic last time over 1500m. Loves racing here and is down significantly in grade today. MOSKI (8) closed well to finish 3rd over 1200m at Moe recently but was a very long way off the winner. Racing well and the extra furlong today should help. VINCENT VAN GO (1) improved sharply to win second up last prep so forgive the plain first up effort at this track. SELECTION: Very keen on #4 Lord Mapperley as he gets out to this trip.

Albury: Race 4 @ 2.25pm

Solid tempo anticipated. SMART PROMISE (9) made it three 2nds on the trot when she stormed home late and just missed out over 1000m at Wagga last start. Was held up for runs and probably should have won that day - gets her chance to atone over the longer trip this afternoon. DESIGNER PORTRAIT (1) showed nice improvement last time when lining up for only the third time, making late inroads to finish a very close 2nd over 1200m at Wagga. Draws a better gate today and can go one better. FRITES (2) will find this too short but while fresh could get home into the placings in a race with little depth. STAR FLIGHT (10) with a few gear changes is also worth considering. SELECTION: #9 Smart Promise finds the right race and is ready to win.

Bathurst: Race 4 @ 2.40pm

Encumbrance to lead comfortably. ENCUMBRANCE (4) placed in her first two runs then might not have appreciated the seven-day back-up when she wilted in the run home over 1300m at Goulburn. Best form stacks up very well in this lineup so worth another chance. FUNNY THINGS (6) loomed up before the turn but didn't finish the race off as hoped when 5th at Scone last time out over this distance. Fitter today and this doesn't look as hard. BLUE TATTOO (10) found the line strongly when the race was all over, beaten just 2.3 lengths into 6th over 1100m here recently. Can play a major role as he steps up in distance. Respect any betting moves for Gerald Ryan's first starter AIR BLAZER (9). SELECTION: #4 Encumbrance to bounce back.
