Tuesday, 18 September 2018: There was just the one meeting in Singapore this week with nine competitive races run at Kranji on Friday night.

Bold Thruster

Bold Thruster has continued his rise through the grades, winning his third race in a row with a dominant victory in the Class 3 over 1200m.

Going straight to the lead from barrier nine with Barend Vorster on board, Bold Thruster kicked clear at the top of the straight and never looked like getting beaten, running out a three and a quarter winner over The Capital in second with Yulong Fast Steed in third.

The Shane Baertschiger-trained runner has now won three of his four career starts, beaten in his only run on the Polytrack on debut in a strong juvenile race.

Bold Thruster  returned a very impressive Timeform figure of 90+, some 14 pounds above his previous win by over four lengths in a Novice.

Baertschiger has indicated the son of Turffontein could well be aimed at a feature race like the Group 3 Garden City Trophy (1200m) to be run on October 21 prior to a spell.

Bold Thruster will then most certainly be aimed at next year’s Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge and with just the four runs to his name is open to plenty of improvement going forward.

Later in the card, Lim’s Lightning picked up where he left off with a nice win in a Class 3 (1200m) on the turf to also make it three wins from the just four career outings.

The Steven Burridge-trained runner was last seen when winning the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe (1200m) in July and certainly looks to have come back a better horse.

Settling up on the speed for much of the race, Lim’s Lightning was too strong for his rivals, running out a one length winner of Mortiz Eclipse, with Galileo’s Approach a further length back in second.

The three-year-old gelding returned a new career peak Timeform figure of 88 against the older horses, five pounds above his Golden Horseshoe win.

Connections have indicated the son of Lope De Vega will have one or two more runs before a spell and has more upside as he gets over further.

Ratings indicate there is not a great deal between Bold Thruster and Lim’s Lightning and the two runners are certainly worth following as they head towards some bigger three-year-old feature races.

In the maiden race over 1200m on the turf, No Fun No Gain  was able to get the win on debut for Stephen Gray following a nice trial win over 1000m late last month.

The three-year-old colt who got the better of Mach by a half length after leading throughout returned a Timeform figure of 72+ and is certainly one to keep an eye on following that effort.
