Bell Has High Hopes For Unbeaten Graff

Tuesday, 28 August 2018: Unbeaten colt Graff laid the foundation for a stud carer with his dominant first-up win in the G2 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on August 25.

The San Domenico boasts an outstanding record as a nursery for successful stallions, most subsequent Group One winners before starting their stud careers.
Since 1995 no fewer than 12 San Domenico Stakes winners went on to G1 races, among them the noted sires General Nediym, Charge Forward, Testa Rossa, Foxwedge, Duporth and Shellscrape.
The last two San Domenico winners Star Turn and Pariah are now at stud.

Graff  is the second San Domenico winner in three years by Star Witness raced by Alan Bell, a former trainer who is regarded as one of Australia’s most astute owners.
Bell also raced the Star Witness colt Star Turn, who also won the G2 Schillaci Stakes and was placed in four G1 races before going to stud.
Bell sees a similar future for Graff, a colt he purchased for $200,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the Widden Stud draft.
Graff, out of the G3 winner Dinkum Diamond (Keep The Faith), has now won all three of his career starts, amassing $217,610 in prize-money.
Widden Stud bought Dinkum Diamond for $95,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2013
Graff’s older brother is a winner while his younger sister sold for $320,000 as a yearling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale in January.
Dinkum Diamond is out of the stakes winner Raja Lane (Devaraja), the dam of five winners.
She has a yearling filly by Shamus Award and was most recently covered by Your Song.
Graff is the 14th stakes winner by Star Witness, a son of Starcraft.
