First G1 Winner For Ilovethiscity

Monday, 9 April 2018: Victoria’s Larneuk Stud may need to rethink their intentions for young stallion Ilovethiscity after he became a Group One sire with the shock win of his 2YO filly El Dorado Dreaming at Randwick on Saturday.

A stud base for Ilovethiscity has been uncertain as Larneuk intends to drop him from its roster this spring.
However studs looking for a successful sire are certain to have their interest in Ilovethiscity sparked by the win of El Dorado Dreaming in Saturday’s G1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes – as unexpected as it was by a maiden filly having only her third race start.

El Dorado Dreaming  is the first stakes winner by Ilovethiscity, a son of Magic Albert who won the G1 Randwick Guineas a 3YO when trained in Sydney by Grahame Begg.
Ilovethiscity  has now sired 24 individual winners including the stakes placed Chapel City. He stood for a fee of $6600 in 2017.
El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity x Solanas by Zabeel) also became the maiden G1 winner for her young Newcastle trainer Ben Smith, who trains the filly for her breeder Yvette Pearce.
Pearce had been looking for a mare by Zabeel and her search ended with Solanas,
“A Zabeel mare was on my bucket list and the thinking was to breed a three-year-old 1600 metre horse,” Pearce said.
Solanas is the dam of four winners from six foals to race. She is a half-sister to Peppie (Danehill), the dam of Listed winner Sea Battle (Quest For Fame).
Second dam Pepite D’Or (Dieu d'Or) is a sister to G1 winner Gold Ace and a half-sister to G1 winning sprinter Final Card (Elounda Bay).
Solanas has a weanling colt by Cluster but was not covered in 2017.
Teofilo’s best son Happy Clapper took his career earnings to $55,000 short of $6 million with his deserved win in the G1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick.
Happy Clapper , who has now won 11 and placed in 12 of his 34 career starts for his owner-breeder Michael Thomas, is one of four winners among six named foals out of the winning Encosta De Lago mare Busking who died last year.
Busking is a half-sister to the dual G3 winner Thankgodyou’rehere (Secret Savings) and has also produced the G3 placegetter Gig (Commands) andG2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Not A Single Cent (Not A Single Doubt).
Happy Clapper is also from the family of Listed winner Pride Of Tarlton (Bureaucracy) and stakes-placed Green Waters
Busking has a yearling brother to Not A Single Cent.
Happy Clapper is one of 72 stakes winners by for his sire Teofilo (Galileo) who renewed his shuttle career in 2016 after a three-year absence.

A Group double among three winners for I Am Invincible at Randwick on Saturday featured the boom sire’s 30th stakes winner.
The Gary Moore-trained 2YO colt Paquirri’s (I Am Invincible x Miss Solis by Oratorio) won the G3 Kindergarten Stakes to bring up 30 black typoe winners for t
Last season’s Magic Millions Classic winner Houtzen made it a double for I Am Invincible when she returned to winning form in the G3 PJ Bell Stakes while his exciting three-year-old Victorem won the $500,000 Country Championship Final.
Paquirri  was purchased by Gary Moore for $265,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the Dawson Stud draft and was a maiden until Saturday’s win over Legend Of Condor (Not A Single Doubt) and Lean Mean Machine (Zoustar).
Moore applied blinkers to Paquirri’s gear, taking the advice of the colt’s part-owner, former champion jockey Mick Dittman.
"I had a talk to Mick about blinkers and he said go for it, that's all TJ Smith used to do'," Moore said.
Houtzen  sent her earnings past $1.85 million with her third stakes win and may back up in the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint at Randwick next Saturday.
Victorem  has won five of his six starts and is turning into an incredible money spinner for connections considering he cost his trainer Jenny Graham just $65,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale.
The exciting performer was educated and presented by Symphony Lodge.
Trainer John Sargent is looking forward to next week’s G1 ATC Australian Oaks with his NZ-bred filly Luvaluva after her classy win in the G3 Adrian Knox Stakes at Randwick.
Luvaluva  (Mastercraftsman x Wansesingyee by Galileo) carried 60kg and defied conceding 7kg to all her rivals after a training hiccup had forced her to miss a start in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes the previous week.
Her win was a high note for New Zealand Bloodstock as Karaka graduates filled the trifecta.
Luvaluva was bought by Sargent for $55,000 at the 2016 NZB Ready to Run Sale and has now won four of her 10 starts and $498,400 in prizemoney.

The runner-up in the Adrian Knox Stakes was Pretty To Sea  (Ocean Park), who cost $150,000 at the 2016 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka and has had a win and four placings from her six starts.
Third-placed Chilly Cha Cha , also by Mastercraftsman, is a half-sister to the G1 winner Suavito (Thorn Park) and cost $160,000 as a weanling and $180,000 at the 2016 NZB Premier Sale.
