Leishman red hot for PGA's Sony Open

Wednesday, 10 January 2018: After a classy performance at Maui, Marc Leishman's strong form early on at the Tournament of Champions has him optimistic ahead of the next PGA Tour event in Hawaii.

He joins major winners Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas as tournament heavyweights at this week's Sony Open.
Leishman led last weeks Tournament of Champions through 36 holes and despite a horror third round salvaged himself to be equal seventh with a top finish.
Leishman has been widely touted as a top favourite at the tournament with a win, a second and two top 10s in his past six worldwide starts and expected to be a force to recon with alongside world No.2 Spieth and defending champion Thomas.
With a career best world ranking of No 12, and a top rank in Australia, Leishman is expected to break in to the world's top 10 for the first-time with a good performance at Waialae.
According to Leishman, he is hopeful of a good finish at the Sony Open to fly in to the top 10 at Waialae, where he has been a regular contender.
Hopeful of his fourth career PGA tour victory Leishman was positive about the venue and the weather forecast indicating his familiarity with the course.
Cameron Smith also joins Leishman in the Sony Open field after a solid performance at the Tournament of Champions.
