Townsville Track In Good Shape

Wednesday, 20 September 2017: Premiership winning jockey Graham Kliese has praised the Townsville Turf Club track following the first jump-outs held on the track since remediation works were carried out by Racing Queensland.

Horses returned to the track on Tuesday, following works to scarify, mow and hollow tine the surface to remove organic matter, with positive feedback from jockeys and trainers.
Kliese said the track played “super” and expects it will be ready for action when racing resumes at Cluden Park on September 28.
“I only rode in one jump-out but it felt super under foot,” he said. “It’s always been a good track but it just needed a little bit of help and a little bit of time.”
Kliese said the track was solid under foot with no noticeable turf kickback.
“I’m not a track expert but I believe it’s ready to handle race fields,” Kliese said.
