Brisbane Review - Doomben - Saturday September 16

Tuesday, 19 September 2017: Snitz has stamped himself as one of the leading three-year-olds in Brisbane following another strong win at Doomben on Saturday.

The Matthew Dunn-trained runner has come back in outstanding order this campaign and improved at each of his three outings.

Returning in a red hot three-year-old race, Snitz ran on well to finish runner up to Let’s Party Marty, which also saw I Am Impinge in third with Whypeeo fourth all of which have gone on to run well again.

Running to a Timeform rating of 91 on that occasion, Snitz then went on to return a figure of 100 when beating Cellargirl over the 1350m at Doomben the next start.

Stepping out the very short priced favourite on Saturday over 1350m again, the son of Snitzel ran to a new career peak of 102 when claiming a fairly easy win over Meikas in second with Mishani Bullitt third.

The form of Snitz was also somewhat franked by Cellargirl in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes at Randwick when running third to Alizee and returning a career peak Timeform figure of 105.

With plenty of options in both Sydney and Brisbane over the coming weeks, Snitz is certainly running Timeform figures that will put him in the mix in black type races going forward.

There aren’t too many going better in the Sunshine State than Manias  who claimed his third win from as many starts in the Benchmark 80 Handicap (1350m).

Settling up on the speed again, The Robert Heathcote-trained runner did just enough with the 58kg to beat Marksfield by a half length with Plucky Girl not too far away in third.

Manias returned a new career peak Timeform figure of 92, one pound above his previous win over Sabkhat who franked the form by going on to win the next start.

The son of Denman is yet to miss the placings from six starts this campaign and if he continues to improve he could find himself in some stakes races during the summer in Brisbane.

The most impressive thing about the win was his ability to carry 58kg, some 3.5kg more than he carried the start prior when winning a benchmark 85.
