Tuesday, 2 March 2021: After the excitement of Ladbrokes Launceston Cup week, racing returns to the track for night racing on Wednesday, the only thoroughbred meeting in the state until 14 March.

The 2YO maiden has attracted some nice types that have contested recent feature races with seven of the nine runners eligible for the lucrative Tasbred bonus that is on offer.

The rail is in the +9m 1200m-W/Post; +7m Remainder position for Wednesday night, last used for the 16 January Saturday night meeting that saw quite a fair racing surface produced.

R1 Celebrate St Paddy's Day At Ttc March 17th Maiden, 1420m

ALWAYS A WINNER (2) was sent out favourite last start but after being caught on a hot speed was left a sitting shot late. He'll be short again off that run, particularly making his own luck on speed and Brendon McCoull taking the ride. BOLD MAGIC (6) went back from a poor draw in the same race as Always A Winner, making good ground late to finish just ahead of ARRIONDO (3). WHO'S THE RIDER (8) has had her chance racing on-pace at her only two runs but finds a race that drops away quickly so has a chance of at least finishing in the money.

REWARD ACHIEVER (7) was an easing favourite but cleared out with Holy Diamond before settling for second. She drew the inside there as well and is sure to take running down again. AMANCAYA (3) acquitted herself very well in a Magic Millions feature albeit she did run them along at a very slow tempo. The form from her maiden has held well with the two behind her running the quinella on Launceston Cup day. Things open up considerably outside that pair. WE NEED A STAR (4) and GEE GEE DOUBLE HOT (13) made good ground from the back last time but have drawn off the track. DINGA'S DELIGHT (5) and MARIPOSA (9) settled just behind the leaders in a fast run race that was dominated by the leading pair. CAPTAIN DAVE (1) has been right in the market at both runs this preparation without firing but the excuses should be running thin third-up.

TAKE THE SIT (2) was well-backed to win the Magic Millions 3&4YO and did so accordingly with a strong sweeping finish. He goes up 2kg for that and is being tested at the mile for the first time. ARGYLE BEACH (1) was second in the same race, sitting outside the leader and seemingly having his chance but I think the 1600m is more up his alley, particularly at this stage of the campaign. HOLY DIAMOND (7) and PHENOMENAL DANCER (9) had little luck in the race won by Queen's Needs. Holy Diamond was held up at key stages and Phenomenal Dancer was wide without cover for the trip. CORONATION PIA (4) doesn't know how to run a bad race in Launceston and ALFIE ALL TALENT (3) is a better horse than we saw last time, the tongue tie being applied suggests there may have been excuses for the poor performance.

MISS TUPPENCE (6) was a $70k purchase who went some of the way to recouping that with a black type placing on debut. She drew off the track there but has the inside this time and will no doubt have benefitted from the race experience. TAPPA PASS (7) was also tested at the highest level on debut, and she ran a good fourth after tailing the field for most of the race. POWER MAGNUM (2) was no match for Turk Warrior on debut, but he isn't alone there. He was clear second in that race, but he was asked for a lot more effort than VETLANDA (9) when they met in a trial at Longford. Vetlanda is a $28k purchase who has a tricky draw for her debut. FIGHTING STYX (5) won her trial in a time that was about a length slower than Power Magnum/Vetlanda on the same day. She's been short in the market at both of her previous starts without really looking like the winner in either race, but she could have easily improved with a break.

FROMTHENEVERNEVER (2) resumes off the back of an excellent Longford trial in what was easily the best time of the session. He's been gelded since he last raced and he'll likely roll forward so a watch will be on the track pattern. SKILENDRA (9) on the other hand will likely be back and wide, so will be requiring run on horses to have their chance. She's run in some pretty hot maidens in her career to date. GEE GEE REAL DEAL (10) is knocking on the door for a win, beaten narrowly in three races so far this campaign. Slightly awkward draw with some speed beneath her, but this is no harder. UPSET (6) had no luck last start and has been freshened since. He's started single figures in eight of his nine races to date. LOVE NOTES (7) felt the pinch in a strongly run race in Hobart and should strip fitter as a result.

R6 Become A Member At Ttc Benchmark 74 Hcp, 1420m

After five wins to start his career things have gone a little off the rails this campaign for DARK WANDERER (1). He has been carved up on-speed at his last two, but this is a significant class drop. He's very well weighted for Codi Jordan and may be hard to run down if allowed to lead. CABARRUS (2) is the other with a significant ratings edge. He was solid behind Easy Road last time but that horse subsequently disappointed as a skinny favourite. BARJEEL (3) and GREGORIAN CHANT (5) are up in grade but racing well and will appreciate being down in the weights. TEZLAH (4) has a tendency to bomb the start but if he steps with them has to be given an each-way chance.

R7 Win An Mg Zs Suv When You Dine @ Ttc Mdn/cl1, 2150m

ENDURED (4) was a month between runs getting to the mile for the first time last start but still hit the line well. She's on trial at the trip but so are a lot of the key chances and she's easily the best credentialled over the shorter distances. SCOTS WHA HAE (5) has been racing better than his SP's indicate and he was finally rewarded with a placing behind an airborne The Risk Factor. That was a fast run race for this grade, with BULBASAUR (3) and BESTIE'S DAUGHTER (8) further down the track. TASSIE O'REILLY (6) went straight to the mile off a freshen and now gets to the staying trip for the first time since arriving in the state. He has form over the distance for the previous camp. NEEDS TOASTING (7) has been hitting the line like the distance won't be a problem and SPIRIT OF WIORA (2) had heavy support last time he was over 2100m but failed. He may be worth another chance with the grounding of that behind him.

UP WIND (3) had to work early in the Night Cup with that form subsequently holding up fairly well in the Launceston Cup. He beat home OUR DECLARATION (5) there but does rise 3kg with the mare staying on the minimum. This is a big drop in grade from what Our Declaration has been contesting and she has a good record over the T&D. CREATIVE HERO (1) wasn't disgraced in the Mowbray Stakes, lacking a turn of foot when the heat came into the race. He has won up to 2000m prior to arriving in Tasmania. POOLE HARBOUR (7) has had no luck at all at her past two starts and arguably should've won one and placed in the other. Any sting out of the track would be a bonus for her as it would for ODIN'S FOLLY (4) who has thrived on the Launceston 2100m this campaign. RODESSA (6) will be running on from the back so keep an eye on whether that pattern is any chance by this stage of the night.
