Western Sydney Wanderers have added another goalkeeper to their roster, with Swiss star Daniel Lopar unavailable for the remainder of the A-League season after recently returning home.
Tristan Prendergast has been signed from NSW NPL side Blacktown for the rest of the Wanderers' 2020 campaign.
The 25-year-old custodian ,who was part of local rival Sydney FC's squad for a pre-season tour in 2019, will vie with youngster Nick Suman for the goalkeeping role.
"Some people have told me I'm a bit unorthodox in some of the things I do, but if I keep the ball out of the back of the net, that's my job," Prendergast said.
Lopar, who made a good impression in his first season at the club, returned home for personal reasons.
He signed a two-year contract extension with the club back in January and will return next season.
Prendergast and 20-year-old Suman, who has made a handful of first-team appearances over the past two seasons, are the main contenders for the goalkeeping spot.
Injured veteran Vedran Janjetovic, who last played in April 2019, continues to work through his rehab from a shoulder reconstruction, with no set return date.
Another goalkeeper on the Wanderers' books is academy player Oliver Kalac, the teenage son of former Socceroos shot stopper Zeljko Kalac.
Wanderers head into the reactivated competition later this month in eighth spot, one point behind sixth-placed Western United who have played one game less.
