The hunt for a new Australian netball coach to replace Lisa Alexander is back on after it was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The recruitment process to replace long-serving mentor Alexander, whose contract wasn't renewed, began in March but was shelved with international netball in 2020 in severe doubt.

Following the announcement that the Diamonds will take on New Zealand in the 2020 Constellation Cup later this year, should Trans-Tasman borders open, Netball Australia has re-opened applications.

A five-person selection panel has been established to appoint the new coach of the world No.1-ranked side.

This panel is made up of NA chair Paolina Hunt, NA CEO Marne Fechner, NA executive general manager of performance Stacey West, Australian men's rugby 7's coach Tim Walsh and high-performance, leadership and team culture consultant Graham Lowe.

Fechner said the organisation was pleased to be re-launching the recruitment process.

"With greater certainty around the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season and Constellation Cup, we're excited to be resuming recruitment for the new Origin Diamonds head coach," Fechner said.

"As you would expect, the calibre of expressions of interest back in March was extremely high, so we look forward to confirming the final list of applicants."

Formal applications will close on June 28 with NA hoping to announce the new coach by the end of August.
