Melbourne Victory have signed New Zealand winger Marco Rojas on a two-and-a-half-year deal in what will be his third stint at the A-League club.

Rojas previously played for Victory in 2011/12 and 2012/13, and again in 2016/17, scoring 28 goals in 75 games in all competitions and claiming the 2012/13 Johnny Warren Medal.

"It was terrific to hear that Marco wanted to return to the Victory family," Victory interim coach Carlos Salvachua said.

"I believe his decision to come back says a lot about the club environment.

"We know Marco is a very talented player. He is a goal scorer, he will strengthen our side and help us play the attacking brand of football our members and fans expect."

After departing Victory at the end of the 2016-17 season, Rojas joined Dutch team Heerenveen on a two-year contract, then signed at Danish club SonderjyskE in January 2019, where he scored three goals in 30 appearances.

The Kiwi winger is set to form an imposing attacking line-up with the likes of Ola Toivonen, Robbie Kruse, Andrew Nabbout and Elvis Kamsoba among Victory's options.

"Melbourne Victory holds a special place in my heart," the 28-year-old said.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back out there and playing in front of the fans again because they really do create a special atmosphere.

"I want to help contribute to the team performances and help push the team back up the ladder.

"I look forward to working under Carlos - I've heard really good things about him. I'm always open to learning new things and I'm sure he'll be able to teach me a lot."

Victory earlier agreed to part ways with Austrian attacker Kristijan Dobras, opening up an international spot for Rojas.

Dobras scored two goals in nine appearances for Victory.
