The Melbourne Renegades joined the Hobart Hurricanes at the top of the WBBL after comfortably defeating the Perth Scorchers by four wickets on Wednesday.

Set 133 for victory, the Renegades won with five deliveries to spare at St Kilda's Junction Oval to notch their second win of the season.

English imports Danni Wyatt (31) and Tammy Beaumont (25) paced the well-timed run chase after opener Sophie Molineux (24) had set a dashing early tone before Josie Dooley (17no) remained calm at the close.

Jemma Barsby (2-22) and Piepa Cleary (2-28) were the pick of a Scorchers attack that were badly let down by sloppy fielding a run out was botched and four catches went down.

Earlier, Nat Sciver (55no) and Amy Jones (44) were the cornerstones for the Scorchers after they were asked to bat in perfect, sunny conditions.

Perth lost captain Meg Lanning (2) early to fast, fiery Leah Tahuhu before a fire alarm saw play suspended for 10 minutes after the ground evacuated at the eight-over mark.

Jones smacked two sixes in her knock but when she fell in the 12th over, the Renegades were able to keep the Scorchers in check, limiting the visitors to 5-132.
