Part of the $24.8 million re-development of the Ipswich Turf Club course includes the replacement of the decades-old irrigation infrastructure and drainage ssytem.

Racing is scheduled to resume at Bundamba in April next year.

Remaining components of the re-development expected to be completed by that time included delivery of the club's new tie-up stalls.

"The planned start date for the project has been designed to take advantage of the optimum growing conditions at this time of the year," said RQ CEO Brendan Parnell.

"Currently there is minimal subsurface drainage installed at Bundamba.

"The installation of uniform subsoil drainage is designed to take excess water away from the racing surface.

"It will also include installation of a new state-of-the-art irrigation system."

Stewards and jockeys already have access the new purpose-built facilties and function centre at Bundamba on race days.

"The new racing amenities include an expanded female jockeys' room, stewards have been provided with new high-tech equipment and there's a dedicated media centre.

Ipswich Turf Club hosted almost 50 race meetings last year and more than 20,000 people attended the Ipswich Cup meeting in June.

Ipswich meetings during the outage will be transferred to Doomben, Beaudesert, Toowoomba and Gatton.
