Monday, 22 April 2019: Pierro’s crack son Pierata will be a worthy addition to the stallion ranks when the time comes after getting his overdue first Group One win at Randwick on Saturday.

His CV is now complete after adding the All-Aged Stakes to his imposing record, in the process becoming the fourth G1 winner by his noted Coolmore sire.

Pierro’s reputation continues to grow as his top level winners have recorded their G1 wins over a wide range of distances, Pierata  being preceded his classic winners Levendi  and Pinot  and Perth’s outstanding filly Arcadia Queen .
In total Pierro has sired 137 winners including 16 at stakes level in his first three crops to race. The former champion 2YO by Lonhro has been Australia’s leading first and second season sire by earnings with his first two crops.
Just when Pierata goes to stud depends on the offers presented to his ownership syndicate with his part-owner and trainer Greg Hickman suggesting the time frame could remain open for another 12 months.
“It depends what happens with stud deals,” Hickman said.
“There’s a couple of nice targets in Brisbane but I’d also be quite happy to freshen him up and run him in The Everest in the spring.
“I’m just trying to do my best for everyone that’s involved in the horse.
“For a smaller stable like ours a horse like this is a life changer.”

The Hobartville Stud-bred Pierata (Pierro x November Flight by Flying Spur) is a half-brother to three winners including the G3 winner Ashokan (More Than Ready).
His dam November Flight won the G3 Millie Fox Stakes and has since produced a Dundeel filly and a Rubick yearling colt who made $900,000 at this year’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale. She was served again by Pierro last spring.
Pierata was purchased by Hickman for $160,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Kitchwin Hills draft.
He has now seven races including five Group and Listed events, from 19 starts for prizemoney of $3,311,300.
