Bernard Tomic has been sent crashing out of the US Clay Court Championships in Houston, losing his second-round clash 6-1 6-2 to Spain's Marcel Granollers.

Granollers, who is ranked 112th, dispatched the world No.79 in just 47 minutes.

On his least favoured surface, Tomic struggled throughout, winning points on just 54 per cent of his serves and failing to produce a single ace.

Australia's Jordan Thompson will play his third round match against top-seeded American Steve Johnson on Thursday.
