Winx  won the Apollo Stakes by two and a quarter lengths in race record time of 1.20.88, the fastest time the amazing 7YO has run in any of her races over 1400m and featuring some scintillating sectional splits for her last 400m.
The win was her third in the Apollo Stakes and extended her incredible unbeaten streak to 30 races – all Group races - stretching to more than 1400 days.
"She showed how good she is and that's what everyone wanted to see. I'm just very proud,” said her trainer Chris Waller.
Bred by John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds Winx (Street Cry x Vegas Showgirl by Al Akbar) was a $230,000 purchase at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Coolmore Stud draft.
She is one of seven foals out of dual stakes winner Vegas Showgirl (Al Akbar), who is in foal to champion Japanese sire Deep Impact (Sunday Silence).
Vegas Showgirl is also the dam of the G3 winner El Divino (Snitzel) and the unraced Boulder City (Snitzel), who stood his first season at stud in Victoria last year.
Camilleri has retained a Snitzel x Vegas Showgirl two-year-old filly named Courchevel and he also has a yearling filly by Exceed And Excel.
Vegas Showgirl is a half-sister to the G3-placed Black Magic Maggie (Westminster) from the two-time winner Vegas Magic (Voodoo Rhythm).
Winx will now head to the G1 Chipping Norton Stakes before a likely start in the G1 George Ryder Stakes and her career grand final in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.
If Winx continues her winning run through to the Queen Elizabeth she will break the world prizemoney record.
She is already the world record holder of consecutive Group One wins, consecutive Group wins and shares the record for career G1 wins.
