Perth coach Bobby Despotovski has taken a swipe at the FFA over the state of the Jubilee Stadium pitch, saying it wasn't fit to host the W-League grand final.

The Glory blew their third shot at a maiden women's title after going down 4-2 to a clinical Sydney FC side on Saturday evening.

Despotovski suggested last week's extra-time semi-final, coupled with their mammoth travel load, resulted in their slow start in the decider.

"I'm not taking that as an excuse. I never will, and never have. (But) at the end of the day, maybe that influenced their preparation a little bit," Despotovski said.

However he conceded the Glory were simply outplayed on the day, with Sydney claiming the title on the back of some stunning strikes on goal.

"You understand that it's not going to be your game when the No.10 flicks that goal from the 18-yard box and chips the goalkeeper," he said.

"Then you know maybe (it's) not going to be your day."

Despotovski was critical of his team's lack of creativity from defence and midfield, forcing the visitors to rely on counter-attacks through star Sam Kerr.

However the former Socceroos representative also took aim at what was a patchy and sandy surface in the suburban venue.

"It's very disappointing that you showcase your W-league grand final on a pitch like that. Don't we have any other grounds here in Sydney to play on?" he said.

"If that's the best, then fine. I'll go with it. But I know that it's not.

"So at the end of the day maybe that shows what the FFA is all about."

The Glory hadn't inspected the surface until arriving at the ground on Saturday, having arrived in Sydney on Friday afternoon.

But Despotovski insisted the substandard pitch was not the reason for their defeat.

"The pitch is for both teams exactly the same," he said.

"Obviously they have an advantage because they're training on it and whatnot but pitch wasn't the reason we played badly, put it that way."

Kerr's focus will now be on whether she returns next season, or decides to miss the Australian summer and make an anticipated move to Europe.
