Friday, 15 February 2019: An Unencumbered colt destined for Singapore topped the inaugural Highway Session on the final day of the Sydney Classic Sale.

Peter Twomey’s Wattle Bloodstock made the final bid of $85,000 for the Unencumbered x Malbun colt for Thomas Loke’s Tivic Stable in Singapore.
The colt will head to Wagga Wagga trainer Trevor Sutherland to be broken in before likely racing in Singapore.
“We wanted to target this Highway Session,’’ Twomey said. “Thomas loves his racing and after being broken in, if forward enough, the colt will head to Singapore around this time next year to aim toward the AusHorse Golden Horseshoe Series.’’
The colt was a successful pinhook result for Leon Bradbery, who purchased him as a weanling for $14,000 from last year’s Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale.
Murrulla Stud offered the colt after also selling the Classic Book 1 top lot, the Brazen Beau x Pouter colt for $550,000 earlier in the week.
“It was big enough to top Book 1 but to do it again in Book 2 with this horse, we’ve never done anything like that before in our lives,’’ said Tim Nolan from Murulla Stud.
The second-top lot offered by Evergreen Stud and purchased by Blueblood Thoroughbreds was a Dundeel x Replacement Miss filly, sold for $75,000
AT $70,000 was a colt by Press Statement x Sin Sin Sin from Kitchwin Hills and a Duporth x Elysian Dancer colt from Toolooganvale Farm.
The Sin Sin Sin colt was purchased by Goulburn trainer Kurt Goldman, using the $50,000 Credit Voucher he won when his Magic Albert 4YO Safe Landing won the Country Highway at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The inaugural Highway Session ended with a clearance rate of 85%, average of $25,264 and gross of $3,638,000.
The entire Classic Sale grossed $49,031,250 for 741 horses sold at a clearance rate of 83%.
