Today’s Horse Racing Tips – December 8

Saturday, 8 December 2018: Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 8.

Ascot: Race 4 @ 5:24pm (AEDT)

ROYAL STATUE has won his last four straight and it's hard seeing him take a backwards step racing third up. Gives the impression he will relish the step up in trip and has drawn to settle closer for the Wizard. On an upward spiral and should prove very hard to beat. MOET DE VEGA was only narrowly beaten behind the former last start and now meets him 1.5kg better off at the weights. Should lead and give them all something to run down. Last start winner RISING SEA next best. SELECTIONS:: Very keen on #4 Royal Statue from #8 and #3.

Rosehill: Race 2 @ 1:50pm

BALLER was a convincing winner on the Kensington surface last start. Put more than three lengths on his nearest rival with minimal fuss. Steps up to 1400m here. Pedigree suggests he should lap it up. REELEM IN RUBY was a first up maiden winner at Canterbury. Will be fitter for the run and carries nothing on her back. ZALATTE won her debut on the Kensington. Will have derived good improvement from the run. SELECTIONS: Siding with #2 Baller from #5 and #6.

Platinum Angel.

Doomben: Race 7 @ 5:08pm (AEDT)

PRIORITISE was an eye catcher when returning from a let up, missing the start and travelling wide but still chasing well for a 1.8L fourth in the Recognition Stakes. Had won four in a row before that and is unbeaten in three attempts at the mile so is suited back up to this trip. Looks hard to stop. COLDSTONE did a great job at his first run for Tony Gollan when only beaten a half length into second in the Recognition. Has won second up before so expect improvement. KAY KAY BOY scored well at Ipswich last start. The step up in distance suits and he is ready to peak third up. SOLD FOR SONG is finding it hard to win but has placed at her past two so is worth including. SELECTIONS: Win bet #4 Prioritise - he can maintain his unbeaten record at the mile from #1, #9 and #6.

Morphettville: Race 7 @ 5.31pm (AEDT)

PLATINUM ANGEL charged home for close second in a Magic Millions race at Ballarat last start. Suited up in trip as she has a good record at the distance. At peak fitness and can win from a good draw. NARIKO scored well at Ballarat last start. Deserved that win after placing at her previous two. Talented mare who can measure up. CASINO WIZARD found Melbourne a bit tough at his past two starts but won a Listed raced at this course before that so is better suited here. ILLUSTRIOUS LAD is a class sprinter when right and could show better third up after two solid Melbourne runs in stakes company. SELECTIONS: #6 Platinum Angel to win off a last-start eye-catcher over #12, #2 and #1.

Pakenham: Race 9 @ 5:55pm

SUSPENSE is a talented sprinter resuming. He races well fresh having won first up twice before and Team Snowden should have him ready to go after a recent trial. Well drawn and can make a winning return. THEANSWERMYFRIEND is best at 1400m but he has plenty of pace and he can certainly win at 1200m among this company. Took some sorting out last prep but terrific when he got it right and no shock to see him have another great campaign over the summer. BASSETT has a few runs under the belt now and has drawn the inside gate. He should run well in the right race.SELECTIONS: #10 Suspense to win first up from #1 and #9.
