Sydney vice-captain Dane Rampe looks set to play out his AFL career with the Swans after signing a three-year deal.

The reliable 28-year-old key defender was already contracted for next year, with the extension tying him to the club until the end of the 2022 season.

Sydney-born Rampe played in the local competition before joining the Swans as a rookie at the end of 2012.

He has gone on to play 138 senior games in the past six seasons, establishing himself as a pivotal member of the Swans' backline.

He achieved All-Australian representation in 2016, playing in losing Sydney grand final teams that year and in 2014.

"We're really excited Dane has committed his future to Sydney 12 months out from qualifying for free agency," new Swans head of football Charlie Gardiner said on Friday.
