Co-trainer Barbara Joseph kicked off the raceday some 20 years ago and it’s grown in size and stature ever since.

Each year at this time, 250 to 300 people gather in the function room at the Canberra race club for a day of racing and celebration.

Co-trainer Paul Jones says it’s the stable’s chance to thank it owners and supporters.

“It's fully catered, and we have auctions, games and raffles, and again this year Sky Racing’s Shawn Cosgrove will MC and entertain,” Jones said.

“Currently we have bookings for 270, including supporters such as John McGrath Motor and Watson Blinds use the event as a thank you to its clients.”

On the racing-side, Jones said the stable tries to have as many of it horses as possible race on the day, if there’s races to suit.

“We expect to have nine starters, headed by two of the stable’s best, Mercurial Lad and Bank on Henry in the BM 80 over 1200m.

“This pair will be headed to the Tony Campbell Cup in Canberra in a fortnight.

“Le Sacre Blur will race in the TAB Federal back from strong provincial grade. Inch Perfect and Tyres Are Crucial are handy types and we are hoping some of our younger horses can step up.”
