Better Than Ready Colt Sets Breeze Up Standard

Saturday, 15 September 2018: The build up to next month's Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale went up a gear with two rounds of breeze ups at Warwick Farm in Sydney and Seymour in Victoria.

A quality line up of juveniles went through their paces at Seymour where the quickest time of the morning of 10.19 seconds was set by Lot 181, a Better Than Ready-Upper Notch colt from the draft of Baystone Farm.
Better Than Ready, a Lyndhurst Stud Farm based first season sire, has had three members of his first crop win official trials.

The second fastest 200 metre breeze came from Lot 111, a Dundeel filly from Natural Selection who clocked 10.21 seconds.
The filly, presented by Moffatt Breaking & Pre Training, is from a two time winning half sister to the Golden Slipper placed sire Zizou.
She will be out to emulate Darren Weir's quality three-year-old filly Krone who was the fastest filly at the same session last year and is already a stakes winner.
Other youngsters to impress on the day were colts by Deep Field (Lot 40 in 10.28 secs), Uncle Mo (Lot 101 in 10.33 secs) and Mawingo (Lot 154 in 10.35 secs).
It was an extremely successful session with 24 of the 33 two-year-olds breaking 11 seconds on the all weather track which gives every horse the opportunity to gallop on a dry and even surface.
At Warwick Farm a son of the late sire Hinchinbrook set the time standard during the first session of breeze-ups for next month's sale.
The gelding by Hinchinbrook from La Valeta sped over the last 200m of his breeze on the pro-ride track in 9.81 seconds, the quickest of the 24 entries for the MM Sale at the Gold Coast on October 9.
Trainer Melanie O'Gorman had prepared the youngster for his breeze up appearance. The 2YO is the first foal of La Valeta, a daughter of NZ Group winner For Love (Omnicorp).
Other quick times among the 24 youngsters to breeze were recorded by a Shamexpress gelding (10.11); a Choisir colt (10.16s), an Arlington colt (10.23), a colt by Star Witness (10.25); a Denman colt (10.34) and a Rothesay colt (10.52).
The action continues on Monday when the Gold Coast Turf Club hosts the third session of breeze-ups from 9.30am.
As with all sessions of Magic Millions' breeze-ups the work outs will be streamed live online.
A final session will be held at the Gold Coast on the day before the sale on October 8.
There are 220 lots in the catalogue for the Magic Millions 2YO in Training Sale.
