Who’s Knocking To Target Tony Campbell Cup

Wednesday, 12 September 2018: Canberra trainer Trevor McIlrick has begun the 2018-19 racing season with a bullet, racking up four wins and a placing from his seven starters.

Leading the charge has been his progressive mare, Who’s Kidding, who’s won both runs this preparation for an overall 4/7 win record.

Who's Kidding was far too good resuming in a BM 66 at Gundagai and then delivered again in the same grade at Goulburn.

“She has shown us plenty from day dot and came off her three month break in great order. She’s more settled, has filled out and keeps improving. She will be even better next preparation,” McIlrick said.

“Her next two races will be in Canberra, where the programming works out nicely for her.

“We plan to run her in a BM 80 in a fortnight where she will be down in the weights, with a view to her competing in the Tony Campbell Cup in Open company where she will sit near bottom of the handicap.”

McIlrick decided not to accept at Canterbury today (Wednesday) with Miss Liffey who was to carry top weight in a BM 70 over 1100m.

Miss Liffey carried a big weight to win at Wagga and McIlrick says the run following at Warwick Farm was much better then it looked.

“She’s a BM 90 now in the country and you fly through the classes if you have ability. It then gets a bit tougher for horses like her.”
