The Kosciuszko Gets Its Own Song

Tuesday, 4 September 2018: With the countdown on until the first running of The Kosciuszko, a race created for NSW country trained horses with $1.3 million up for grabs, TAB has teamed up with country music star Brad Cox to help raise funds for the drought relief.

Cox, the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival Star Maker of the Year, was so inspired around the announcement of The Kosciuszko having grown up in Jindabyne, that he penned a song around the race and what it means to regional NSW.

Upon learning this, TAB reached out to Cox and are now sponsoring his current tour around NSW. A content series around Cox’s tour has been created and will be distributed via TAB’s social media platforms. The content series aims to show off the best parts of country NSW with episodes focusing on the song, the local communities, local horse trainers and connections, local TABs and finally the big race day for The TAB Everest.

Having performed at the Mudgee races over the weekend, Cox’s tour will continue to Wagga Wagga this week and will conclude with a performance at Royal Randwick on October 13 where The Kosciuszko will be run alongside Australia’s richest race, the $13 million TAB Everest.

For every download of Cox’s song about The Kosciuszko, TAB will donate 100% towards the drought relief charity of Rural Aid. In addition, for every Kosciuszko ticket sold between September 1 and 13, TAB will donate $1 to the charity.
“It’s great to be involved with something that means so much to the country. Racing is at the heart of a lot of these communities that are doing it tough so for TAB and Racing NSW to bring something like the Kosciuszko to life and to give back to drought relief is really special,” Brad Cox said.
“Coming from Kozzi, I wanted to represent the town and add some real energy to it. I’m looking forward to playing at Randwick on TAB Everest Day and showing the big smoke how the country does it.”

“We’re acutely aware of the impact the drought is having on communities in New South Wales and we’re proud to back Brad in his efforts to raise funds to support those affected. The Kosciuszko is an exciting and innovative concept for regional New South Wales racing participants and we’re all looking forward to witnessing the race and seeing Brad perform on the big stage at Royal Randwick on TAB Everest Day,” Tabcorp General Manager Wagering NSW/ACT Bernadette McLoughlin said.
