Thursday, 2 August 2018: Previews and tips for Singapore racing at Kranji, Sunday August 5.

King's Speech
King's Speech

RACE 1
RAPTOR (6) – Is due a winning turn and has been running well from the Michael Clements yard. Had plenty of support and no doubt will catch the attention of punters again.
SUPERTEN (7) – Just hasn’t been able to snare a victory in recent runs but continues to pick up a cheque. Must include again.
SECONDWAVE (11) – Another that has been running honest races. Ran fifth in a trial on Tuesday morning to prepare for this.
SOLITAIRE (10) – Battled away fairly last start but he isn’t getting any younger. Place hope at best if he can back his last run up, which was in a weaker field.

RACE 2
MAI DARKO (2) – Last start was first-up for a long time but ran a blinder of a race. Should have improved and is a genuine hope in this as long as he doesn’t bounce second-up.
O’REILLY STAR (1) – Was only fair last start in what looked to be a weak field. Should really have won a race before now.
WHIZZY WALTZZY (9) – Boxed on fairly last start after drawing a bad gate, but was seen making some ground in the straight. Has the benefit of gate 1 this time round.
ASIA (3) – Has drawn a terrible barrier but does have the services of Michael Rodd who is riding very well. Quartet filler.

RACE 3
LOVING YOU (1) – Was bumped heavily at the start but was all round disappointing when backed at $9 last time out. Can atone in this race that has little depth.
DRONE (3) – Good debut winner as a 2YO, disappointing second-up and never was involved in the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe. A bit the stablemate worth following in a weak field.
RACING TALENT (4) – Disgraced himself at the start last time but has since won a stall test trial. Place hopes look best.
WITHOUT PREJUDICE (8) – He might be the best of the rest. Got his win two back but would have to put his best foot forward here.

RACE 4
KING’S SPEECH (2) – Got completely wiped out on Derby day in a race that was marred by a nasty incident. Must include.
WHAT’S NEW (4) – Progressive filly who has been freshened since the Guineas. Probably won’t be fully screwed down but at her best will give this a shake.
BOLD THRUSTER (8) – Most impressive in his last performance. It was total domination from him. Expect another forward showing.
TARO SAN (3) – Two second placings in two runs, kept challenging the winner last start and looks a genuine quartet player.

RACE 5
EAGLE EYE (1) – Two good runs in his career, only miss was in the Guineas. Nailed last start by an older horse right on the line.
LIONROCKSPIRIT (5) – Former Hong Kong-trained galloper who never really materialised there. Has his quirks but looked okay in a recent trial.
LORD OF CLOUD (6) – Somewhat disappointing last start and was found to be lame. Should be a good prospect in this.
STAR EMPIRE (10) – A horse that hasn’t done a lot wrong since arriving in Singapore. Beaten by Tesoro Privado last start but was the best of the rest.

RACE 6
HUNTING TOWER (1) – Former Australian who was with Mick Price with one start next to his name for a win over 1300m. May find this short of his best but has trialled well enough.
RACER KING (4) – Settled a long way back last start but ran on well enough in the straight to suggest he has something to offer here.
GOOD CATCH (7) – Has been in the money at both runs at this distance. Just got run over by the swooper last start.
KING OF WAR (12) – Carried plenty of support last start from a wide stall. Lost his position in running coming to the turn. Keep safe.

RACE 7
THE CAPITAL (3) – He has been a shade disappointing since he arrived here. Ran on nicely last start. He cannot be discounted.
LITTLE MASTER (5) – Never had missed the start in his career until last time out. Ran on okay despite being on the E course.
JUSTICE SMART (1) – Good effort last start after being slightly held up, however was never going to catch the winner.
O’WHAT A FEELING (2) – Much improved performance last time out on the Polytrack, narrowly beaten but worth following.

RACE 8
CAPTAIN JAMIE (3) – Trialled up superbly well last week in sub 60 time. He was disappointing last start but goes well at this distance and can atone.
LITTLE BIG MAN (8) – He has been slightly freshened since his run back on June 24 where he wasn’t beaten far. Quartet player.
MATE STORY (1) – Looks to be a handy enough type winning four, placing twice from 11 runs in Australia. Showed up nicely in a trial last week.
TOLIMAN (2) – He is a hard horse to follow, very much in and out but he does have ability, he’s having his third run back for the year.

RACE 9
LIM’S ZOOM (1) – A talented up-and-coming horse who has been freshened since being beaten by Super Dynasty. Keep safe in this line up which isn’t strong.
WONDERFUL KNIGHT (3) – Had conditions to suit on the E course and had them all covered bar one. Would pay to follow again.
SOLDADO (4) – Three third placings in a row, so the form is sound enough. Was a little keen in the running but gets his chance.
KING KONG (9) – Coming back from a sound effort on the Polytrack where he was seen making good ground. Place hope at best.
