Leigh Russell new Swimming Australia boss

Wednesday, 28 March 2018:

Leigh Russell has been unveiled as Swimming Australia's new chief executive.

She will replace Mark Anderson, who has left to become AFL club Collingwood's new boss.

Russell will officially take over on April 16, the day after the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games finish.

Russell is the former CEO of Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens and also worked with the Essendon and Gold Coast AFL clubs.

"She is a highly impressive talent known for her collaborative leadership style and for building high performance culture," Swimming Australia president John Bertrand said.

Chris Forbes was interim CEO after Anderson announced last November he would link with Collingwood.

Anderson took over in 2013 following the "toxic" London Olympic campaign and led major governance and cultural changes for the Dolphins national team.

He officially left his post after this month's selection trials.
