Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar

RACE 1
RORY (4) – Another in this race who has a good 1000m record (7wins/15placings), he also placed in a recent trial. Keep safe.
MASTERMIND (2) – Out of form but last time he lined up in Class 5/1000m he was at $20 and was placed second, big watch!
GOLDEN SPARK (6) – The only other runner that has won at this distance (2 wins), battled away fairly last start.
GOOD BET (9) – He is coming off good enough runs recently to suggest he could be a player here with a light weight of 51kgs.

RACE 2
FUSION POWER (1) – Ran some handy races last campaign but got too far back at his most recent start before running on nicely. Freshened up with the benefit of a quiet trial. Watch market closely.
EASTIGER (3) – Drew wide, missed the start and sat five deep last time. Senior rider Vlad Duric goes on here and looks an obvious improver from gate 1.
VENUS DE MILO (9) – Awkward away last time before securing an economical run and placing. Still winless after nine starts but has been working well.
WECANDO (8) – Making debut here for Stephen Gray and Glen Boss. Has had two trials including a winning trial in 1:01.85. Monitor betting interest

RACE 3
FLASH (4) – Lines up for the first time this year and has had three trials to prep for this, in three runs has gone round fancied.
ROYAL GUARD (2) – Still yet to win but has a handy record over Class 4/1100m, has always been in the top 5 so can be a player.
PRINCE ALEXANDER (7) – Beaten last start into 3rd at $19, was very wide making the turn into the straight. Drops 0.5kg.
LUCKY SIX (1) – Battled on well enough last start considering he was caught wide with no cover. However, rises 1.5kgs here.

RACE 4
FORTUNE SPIRIT (2) – Settled well back but was making ground at the end last start, good enough to figure here.
KASHAN (3) – Won two starts ago in this grade. However, that was at a mile, extra 100m no concern. Was a little plain last start.
MONGOLIAN CHIEF (4) – Well out of form and not suited by recent trips, back to 1700m (6-1-1-1) could be key. Tip in hope really.
ARCHER COMPANY (6) – Has been scratching around in the middle of the pack in his last few runs, could be in this finish in a weak-looking race.

RACE 5
DUSSELDORF (1) – It wasn’t a bad effort at all from him last start when 4th, had a tough run in transit and is worth following.
TARGET (4) – Has been the runner-up in his last two performances, last start just run down over the last 200m, consider again.
PANACHE (5) – Hasn’t been far away recently but just hasn’t quite been able to land a blow, always a chance in these races.
SOUTHERN MAN (3) – Form has really dropped away and not really sure what to expect but he won a trial last week 6.8L. However, 1700m is a big concern.

RACE 6
JULIUS CAESAR (1) – Closed off quite nicely last start but he does rise 2kgs to 57kgs in this field. Would have to rate a chance.
THE CAPITAL (7) – He was good two starts ago in this grade/distance but poor last time. Recent trial, don’t drop him yet.
MAGIC CITY (3) – Beaten favourite last start ($19), has since been back to the trials and ran second. Must include in this.
COUNTRY WARRIOR (9) – Capped off some good form recently with a victory in a small Class 4 field. Quartet player.

RACE 7
KATAGAS (1) – This horse has hit some form in his last couple of runs and went close last start, drops 1.5kgs for this race.
SPEEDY PHOENIX (2) – Has only missed the top four on one occasion and boxed on well last start, has to be considered.
MOST FAVORITE (3) – Good debut winner but went hard upfront last start. Recently trialled with the addition of blinkers.
SUPER DENMAN (7) – Hasn’t been sighted raceday since November last year, three trials leading into this including a win last week.

RACE 8
FAREES (1) – Looked home and hosed last time but River Golden swept past in closing stages. Trip suits and from the wide alley, he will drop back and motor home.
VESONTIO (10) – Scored maiden win in impressive fashion last start but is rising in grade and will find this a different kettle of fish. But the field is not overly strong and with his light weight, he can measure up.
KING OF WAR (6) – Had every conceivable chance last time out but stayed rather one-paced inside last 300m. Steps up to winning trip. Worth another look.
THE WIND (5) – Did not run a bad race at his last start. Will appreciate extra 200m. One of those who can upset the applecart.
