An Australian baseballer has been handed a four-year ban for doping after returning a positive test during a national league match.
Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority on Thursday confirmed Canberra Cavalry player Jason Sloan has been dealt the ban over a sample he provided at an Australian Baseball League game in December 2016.
A test detected a byproduct of Boldenone, an anabolic steroid developed to treat horses and banned at all times under the world anti-doping code.
Sloan waived his right to a hearing and did not contest the sanction, ASADA said.
Sloan's suspension was back-dated to May 2017, meaning he is banned from all WADC-compliant until May 2021.
