Games baton features at Tour Down Under

Saturday, 20 January 2018:

The Queen's baton for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will feature at the Tour Down Under in Adelaide with Olympic and Commonwealth Games cycling champion Stuart O'Grady taking charge.

O'Grady will take the baton on a lap of the circuit ahead of Sunday's final stage of the tour in the lead up to the games in April.

O'Grady won seven Commonwealth Games medals, including four gold, during his career.

On Saturday, fellow cyclist Holly Takos, who represented Australia at the 2014 Glasgow games, will carry the baton to the top of Adelaide Oval's grandstand in a special twilight event.

The baton will return to South Australia in February, as part of the more traditional relay around the country.
