Greg Hickman, the trainer who identified the Pierro colt as a yearling, said studs began showing high interest in Pierata  when he started his summer charge with a big win at Doomben at the start of his campaign.
“There's been a couple of them knocking on the door. After today's win I reckon we'll be hearing from a lot more from them," Hickman said after Saturday’s Guineas win at the Gold Coast.
The Warwick Farm trainer said it was too early to reveal which studs were showing interest in Pierata but expects interest to skyrocket in the next 12 months.
“He’ll improve again next preparation. That’s the scary thing about it, he’s just got so much improvement,” he said.
“I don't know how good he is. The other top horses I've had have always shown me how good they were from the word go but he's just go so much improvement left to come it's not funny."
Saturday’s win was the fourth in eight starts for Pierata and saw him collect the biggest prize in Queensland racing history as he picked up $1.2 million in race prizemoney plus an additional $500,000 for claiming the Racing Queensland Summer Crown bonus after feature wins at Doomben last month.
Pierata is the star in an incredible season for his sire Pierro, who has soared up the rankings to be Australia’s leading second crop sire by earnings, winners and stakes winners.
A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for Greg Hickman from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Pierata (Pierro x November Flight by Flying Spur) was bred by Hobartville Stud and is a half-brother to three winners including the G2 winning juvenile Ashokan.
His dam November Flight was a G3 winner and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Villa Splendido (Holy Roman Emperor). She produced a colt foal by Rubick last spring.
Pierata’s second dam November Song (Zabeel) is a half-sister to the stakes winner Crozier II (Godswalk) and Keshava (Maroof), the dam of the NZ stakes winner Fully Funded (Fully Fledged).
His fourth dam is the 1979 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Century Miss (Century).
