The tough defender will have the support of Marcus Bontempelli as the new vice-captain in the lineup.
Wood who led the Bulldogs in 2016 premiership substituting for Bob Murphy was voted in by the team mates to lead the side in 2018.
According to Wood he has grown up at the club and to become the custodian of the team was an honor and a privilege.
Referring to outgoing Murphy, one of the league’s most loved players, Wood was of high acclaim on his captaincy and guidance during the last couple of years.
While the promotion of back to back best and fairest winner Bontempelli comes as no surprise, Wood was of high opinion of the rest the teammates for their intended support in the upcoming season.
