Patrick Scorse Tops ACT Jockey Premiership Table

Monday, 20 November 2017: Apprentice Patrick Scorse chalked-up another winner at Canberra on Sunday and now has a clear lead in the ACT 2017-18 Jockey Premiership.

Scorse rode Athonis for the in-form Joseph-Jones stable in the Kaye Haplin Solicitors BM 55 (1400m), rating him perfectly on-speed.

Scorse has now recorded nine Canberra winners this season and is two wins clear of last year’s premier jockey Brendan Ward, with Mathew Cahill sitting third, one win behind Ward.

Scorse is striking at an impressive 26.5% and is using his claim to good advantage.

Athonis’ win saw Joseph-Jones go to the top on the ACT Trainer Premiership with eight wins, one ahead of the Dryden-Collings partnership.

Joseph-Jones are enjoying their best start to a season in many years and their 20.5% strike rate is matched all venues.

Gratz Vella took training honours on Sunday winning the last two races with Orange Time and You’re Kidding Me — both at decent each-way odds.
