The top class son of Deep Impact showed hjis class at Flemington on Saturday when he produced a dynamic late burst of speed to win the $2 million Emirates Stakes foir his second G1 win in Australia.
Formerly the LKS Mackinnon Stakes (2000m), the Emirates followed Tosen Stardom’s breakthrough win at Caulfield last month in the Toorak Handicap (1600m).
The Darren Weir-trained stallion should have Australian studs queuing to stand the entire as he is a rare son of Japan’s champion sire Deep Impact with proven G1 form in Australia.
Trainer Darren Weir had endured a frustrating 12 months with Tosen Stardom  but always maintained the Australian Bloodstock-owned stallion would prove himself at the top level in Australia.
"Everything that could go wrong with the horse went wrong. They were never serious problems, it wasn't a knee, a fetlock or a tendon or
gone in the wind, they were niggling problems,” Weir said.
"I was worried we wouldn't see the best of him but now we have. That was the real Tosen Stardom.”
Tosen Stardom will now be set for the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in the autumn with Australian Bloodstock confident a stud deal may be secured over the summer months.
Tosen Stardom (Deep Impact x Admire Kirameki by End Sweep) was a dual G3 winner in Japan before coming to Australia.
He has now won seven of his 25 starts with two G1 victories and four placings in Australia for prize money of $3,347,526.
Tosen Stardom is one of three winners from five to race out of the juvenile winner Admire Kirameki, a half-sister to G1 winner Tosen Jordan (Jungle Pocket), G2 winner Tosen Homareboshi (Deep Impact) and stakes placed Dark Message (Dance In The Dark) and Careless Whisper (Fuji Kiseki).
His third dam Crafty Wife (Crafty Prospector) is a stakes winning dam of 12 winners including stakes winners Big Shori (Northem Taste), Battle Banyan (Jungle Pocket) and Spicule (Sunday Silence).
Deep Impact is the sire of 32 G1 winners including Arrowfield Stud’s imported stallions Mikki Isle and Real Impact.
