More Magic At Moonee Valley

Monday, 30 October 2017: Champion mare Winx wasn't the only Magic Millions graduate to taste success on Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley.

Three other winners - Gun Case, Eptimum and Lucky Hussler – were products of Magic Millions sales.
LUCKY HUSSLER : (Husson): The proven G1 winner’s victory in the G2 Crystal Mile was his 10th win and pushed his earnings past $2.13 million.
Winner of the G1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley in 2015 the 6YO Lucky Hussler (Husson x Talaq Dancer by Black Hawk) was purchased by Valley View Heights Pty Ltd from the Monarch Stud draft of the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $100,000.

He is the sole foal out of the winning mare Talaq Dancer, a half-sister to the 2008 Australian Horse Of The Year Weekend Hussler (Hussonet).
His third dam is the G3 winner Not On Friday (At Talaq), dam of G3 Tasmanian Derby winner Phantom Thief (Jade Robbery) and G3 Manion Cup winner Saturday Fever (Groom Dancer).
Husson, standing in Queensland, is the sire of 11 stakes winners.
EPTIMUM  (Snitzel) : Eptimum was bred and sold by Victoria’s Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm from the Monashee Mountain mare Paramount, a winning sister to G1 Stradbroke Handicap winner La Montagna.
He was bought for $200,000 from the 2016 Magic Millions Sale (see latest Snitzel report for more details).
RACE experience proved valuable when the Choisir filly Sestuna won at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day.
Setsuna  had debuted with a game third in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick and showed the benefit of that experience with good race sense to sit wide and run down the leaders at Moonee Valley.
Part owner Rob Caruso had a tough time breeding Setsuna from the xx Longoria, dam of the xx Miss Solis.
“She was really three to four years in the making. The mare slipped the first year and had a still birth the next year before Setsuan followed,” he said.
“As a small breeder it can be really tough but wins like this make it all worth it”
“A lot of credit goes to Peta Tilden at Manx Ppark as they reared her and prepped her.”
Manx Park has a So You Think half-brother to Setsuna for the 2018 Classic Yearling Sale.
Sestuna races for Darby Racing and is their latest success story after syndicating the G1 winners She Will Reign and Yankee Rose in recent seasons.
