Sydney’s night racing season starts on Friday 27 October and runs to 2 March 2018.
Entry is free to all Canterbury Park Friday night meetings and on course patrons will be treated to a host of entertainment and the thrill of racing under lights.
All patrons will have the chance to enter to win the ATC $10,000 Cash Giveaway throughout the Summer Night Racing series, by simply being on track to enter the draw.
To reward those who attend multiple evenings, racegoers are able to submit one entry at each of the ten Summer Night Racing meets to increase their chances of claiming the cash prize, which will be drawn on the final night of the series.
Schweppes will host the opening night which will have a Halloween theme and children are encouraged to dress up to enter the Halloween Best Dressed competition.
Along with the live racing, there will be free entertainment from live music and pop up bars to a jumping castle, petting zoo, pony rides and face painting for the kids.
There will also be the opportunity for young fans to collect players’ cards and have them signed by their favourite jockey as well as collect a special racebook each evening.
Throughout the Summer Night Racing there will be plenty of additional activities including a special visit from Santa on 15 December and a celebration for Luna New Year on 16 February.
ATC will also welcome back the Canterbury Foodie Markets for the second year.
Located on the Trackside Lawn, dozens of exciting food stalls with a variety of cuisines will be offered including a $5 option at each outlet.
The James Squire Beer Garden will also be on the Trackside Lawn, serving craft beer to complement the food offerings. ATC will also continue its $5 beverage program across the racecourse.
Extra incentives for racing participants include a nightly strappers award for the best presented horse on the feature race and travel rebates for country and interstate trainers.
And in an expanded offering for Owners who have starters on each evening, a complimentary buffet meal in a dedicated Owners Room overlooking the racecourse will be provided to add to owners enjoyment of the evening.
The first race at Canterbury Park each Friday will be at 6.15pm, with 30-minute gaps between all races until the final Sydney event at 9.45pm.
Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager of Racing James Heddo said the continued commitment to Sydney’s night racing was in line with ATC’s strategy of growing customer engagement and participation.
“The success of last year’s Night Racing season was very exciting, and we were thrilled with the engagement of the local community,’’ Heddo said.
“We want to continue to grow Friday night racing for our owners and participants, and expanded Owner offerings plus the continuation of an $80,000 feature race each night will certainly add significant interest to an already strong racing program.”
