Paul Okon's side were aggressive and sharp on Wednesday at AAMI Park and were rewarded with a confidence-boosting win.

Two of Okon's new signings bagged the goals.

Spanish striker Asdrubal chipped Lawrence Thomas for Victory's opener five minutes before halftime after latching onto Antony Golec's through-ball.

Wout Brama pestered Victory's midfield all afternoon and then looped a header inside the back post after 78 minutes.

Danny De Silva was a force to be reckoned with as the Mariners' No.10.

Kevin Muscat's side weren't without chances but didn't show the came clinical edge as the visitors.

Internationals Mark Milligan, James Troisi, Besart Berisha and Kosta Barbarouses all started for Victory, while new signing Leroy George watched from the stands - along with national team coach Ange Postecoglou.

Two Victory centre-backs needed to be substituted after knocks to the head.

Rhys Williams went off early in the second half after clashing at a corner.

His replacement Thomas Deng was also forced off after blocking Connor Pain's shot with his head.

Central Coast begin their A-League campaign on October 7 against Newcastle, with Victory hosting Sydney FC in a grand-final rematch later that day.
