Humidor A Star For Teofilo

Monday, 18 September 2017: Exciting New Zealand-bred gelding Humidor recorded his second Group One win in Australia when he thrashed his rivals in the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

Humidor  won four races including the G3 Manawatu Challenge Stakes from the Otaki stable of John Benner and Hollie Wynyard before clients of top Victorian trainer Darren Weir purchased a 50 per cent interest.
Humidor provided Weir with back-to-back victories in the race with sons of Teofilo after taking out the race in 2016 with the now retired Palentino .
Humidor is now a dual G1 winner in Australia after landing the G1 Australian Cup for Weir at Flemington in March and finishing second in the G1 BMW at Rosehill won by Jameka.

Weir said Humidor was likely to head to the G1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on 7 October before tacking the Caulfield Cup.
Humidor (Teofilo x Zalika by Zabeel) has won six of his 18 career starts for prize money of $1,872,915 and is one of 13 individual G1 winners by his sire.
Teofilo returned to stud duty in Australia in 2016 after missing two shuttle seasons in 2014 or 2015 and is again standing in NSW this spring.
Humidor is one of five named foals out of the winning Zabeel mare Zalika, a sister to the dual G2 winner Lafleur and a half-sister to Macau stakes winner Heart Ofthe Desert (Show A Heart).

Humidor is a half brother to three winners while his third dam is the multiple European Group One-winning mare Habibti (Habitat).
Zalika’s 2013 foal died and she then missed in 2014 and 2015 before producing a colt by Makfi last year. She is due to foal to Shooting To Win in October.
Aucklander John Carter shares in the ownership of the five-year-old with his brother Mark and their sister Rachael, the siblings having bred Humidor from Zalika under their Jomara Bloodstock banner.
“Zalika’s Makfi yearling will be going to the sales,” Carter said.
