Friday, 8 September 2017: Below is the race by race analysis looking at the full Singapore card on Sunday the 10th of September, with selections and information on the main contenders

RACE 1
This opening contest over the 1000m for Class 5 gallopers would probably rank as one of the tougher races to find the winner of on this feature race day. HIGHTLIGHT (5) having his first run for KY Young has at least been in pretty consistent form of late, not beaten far in a couple of 1200m races leading up to this. The 1000m would be a slight concern but he can go close if he gets a nice strong pace to aim at. KING STEAD (3) is returning to Class 5 company having run a nice race two starts back behind Honor. He has the added assistance of Michael Rodd in the saddle which will be a big help to his chance here. The placings can be completed by PRINCE FERDINAND (4), who is back in his right grade having struggled in Class 4 recently and PETITE VICTOIRE (10) who is poorly drawn in gate 13 but should go well if overcoming the disadvantageous barrier.

RACE 2
An intriguing Restricted Maiden with half the field making their debuts here over the 1200m and recent trial form could well prove all important. The selection is the once-raced SHAMROCK (11). Second to the useful Mokastar (2nd since) on his debut, this Mark Walker-trained 3yo didn’t have the most troublefree run on debut and did show a few signs of greenness when asked for his effort. He would have learnt plenty from that run and with the luxury of only 52.5kgs on his back, he can prove very hard to beat here. EL CHAPO (6) has had five trials in preparation for this and in his most recent barrier trial he travelled ominously well under Vlad Duric, hitting the line very stylishly under a tight hold and David Kok has been able to ready a newcomer recently when winning with Refresh on debut. Another to have trialled nicely is the Lee Freedman-trained MR CLINT (8). This son of the 2012 Irish 2000 guineas winner Power does not have a flash pedigree (dam was a maiden from 5 and siblings are yet to win) but has trialled well and represents top connections here with Craig Grylls on board. Cliff Brown has removed the tongue tie and crossover noseband from the once-raced DON DE LA VEGA (5) in the hope that he can improve on his debut run for which he showed signs of immaturity behind Refresh. He has since trialled okay and both trainer and jockey, Barend Vorster teamed up to win with Augustano recently. He can improve on that run.

RACE 3
Many chances to the fore here. US-bred GOLD REWARD (2) is overdue for a maiden win. Seems to be looking for more ground. Big say. Winkers replaced with blinkers. He will have to keep a lookout for ACE HARBOUR (5) who keeps improving with each run. Trip suits and he will be right in the mix. Winkers replaced with blinkers and shadow roll. CAI POH WANG (3) was slow to begin at his last run and returned with an irregular heart rhythm. Has drawn off the track, but as he comes from behind, he should be able to overcome this setback. YU LONG EMPEROR (12) was too outpaced at his last start. He ran on but could not threaten the winner Danger Zone. Back in trip but remains a leading chance in this moderate affair.

RACE 4
Close contest. THE COSMOS (1) lost no friends at his last outing. He did loom up at the 300m but the winner Lim’s Racer was a class above. Hails from in-form yard and may well bounce back to form here. SILKINO (10) came within a whisker of opening his account at his last run. This looks tougher but if he reproduces that last run, he should be in with a say here. UNCLE LUCKY (7) is racing with consistency these days. Looked a winner at his last start but was caught late. Give him another chance in a race which looks cut out for him, especially from the nice gate. Blinkers off. ELITE WARRIOR (3) has changed stables. Working in solid fashion and could spring a mini-upset here. Blinkers replaced with pacifiers.

RACE 5 - SIMULCAST RACE, G1 KOREA SPRINT featuring WIMBLEDON who represents Singapore

RACE 6
This Class 4 over the 1200m has a very competitive look to it with no less than three last-start winners in the line-up (two Class 5 winners) and a number of horses in good form without winning coming in to this. LEGENDARY SUN (3) has created a good impression in only two starts to date here in Singapore, he travelled very powerfully in front last time out from barrier 9 and had the majority of the field off the bridle turning in, he was, however, overhauled by Siam Sapphire (receiving 2kgs). Better drawn here, this Desmond Koh-trained runner can go one better this time around. The giant KATAGAS (1) is returning to the grade having run some nice races in better company against some very useful types of late. Lee Freedman has reached for the blinkers for his 7yo and although not ideally drawn in barrier 12, he should be able to call upon his good Class 4 form and go very close here for the year's leading jockey in the irons. Shane Baertschiger has got his team in good form of late and he fields the consistent ROYAL GUARD (5) here. Placed in his last five races, always running a solid race ,this 5yo seems to hit a bit of a flat spot during his races but has been running on well and is a must for the quartet. AUGUSTANO (4) has not fared well with the barrier draw here (gate 14) but did nothing wrong last time when winning, this is a tougher ask but can acquit himself well.

RACE 7
An excellent supporting race to the day's feature with some very classy sprinters turning up for the party here over the 1100m, the winners of 83 races between makes for a mouth-watering contest to get stuck into. The China Horse Club will be represented by Wimbledon in South Korea and the famous red and yellow colours will be sported by the useful OLYMPIC ATHEM (1) here. The James Peters-trained runner ran a mighty race under a big weight last time out when chasing home the frontrunning Sebas over 1000m, he has carried 59ks in five of his last six races, finishing off nicely in 23.23 he has trialed well since and has pleased in recent trackwork to suggest that a well-deserved success could well be on the cards here. Ricardo Le Grange runs a couple of really likeable Polytrack sprinters in the contest with the vote for the runner up spot just going to ROYAL RULER (6), 4th behind Countofmontecristo last time, he was finishing off in a 23.82 closing sectional and he has won a trial in very good time recently (59.76) he can give the selection most to think about in this. Stablemate of Royal Ruler, THE GENERAL (7) should also make his presence felt, always handy last time out, he was just ahead of Royal Ruler in the race won by Countofmontecristo and has just the one blot on his copybook being a slow start in the KRA Trophy in recent starts and has a lovely racing weight of just 52kgs, he can certainly make the frame. The pace is more than likely going to come from SEBAS (2). He was right back to his best last time when scoring well over 1000m (58.55), he does however have 2.5kgs more to carry and a wide gate to overcome in this, but if doing so he can cling on for some minor money.

RACE 8
Trainer Michael Clements has had a stellar year already and he will certainly be hoping to claim another feature race with either Alibi or Countofmontecristo shortly after 4.50pm this Sunday afternoon. The Zimbabwean-born handler could well strike beforehand with a horse in the same colours as his Group 1 winner Alibi. KHUDAWAND (7) was perhaps an unlucky loser last time out when finishing 3rd behind Justice Fair, having settled towards the rear of the field he met trouble in running at about the 350m marker and would finish off in a closing sectional of 23.37, still lightly raced and with Alan Munro in the saddle he finds a very winnable race here. Another horse coming down in grade is TALES OF SUMMER (2) for Cliff Brown, still yet to win in 17 races here, this 6yo has been running well without winning and the ease in class should help him run a nice race here. MOMENT OF JUSTICE (4) finds himself in a very similar race to the one he won back in June and should be up to making the frame here with a visor replacing the blinkers, The quartet is made up by MILITARY MIGHT (8) who is now in a Kranji Stakes D for the first time and back over his pet distance of the mile.

RACE 9
One of the best feature races to be put together this year. LIM’S CRUISER (5) was a shade disappointing at his last two starts. He ran enormous at his barrier trial last Thursday. Jockey Vlad Duric is reunited with him, which is certainly a positive. Blinkers back on. Can return to winning ways. ALIBI (4) goes well fresh and has come back in great shape. Singapore Derby over 2000m was the last frontier for him. This is a much more suitable trip. Can bounce back. WAR AFFAIR (1) was unlucky in the Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy (1800m). Could have won if the galloping room he needed so badly came up at the right moment. Scored a brilliant trial win on Tuesday. Include in calculations as usual. Never underestimate MAJESTIC MOMENTS (7). He was short of a run at his racing comeback but still ran out of his skin to finish second best to stablemate Mr Fantastic. Looking for more ground, but if they roll along, he will be coming home strongly.

RACE 10
Quite a few chances to pick from in this race. LIM’S RIPPLE (6) will look forward to the rise in distance to the mile. Improving sort who can take this if he gets the right breaks. HAPPY BABY (3) is in great form and will appreciate the extra 200m. Big say. HEE’S A MAVERICK (9) is maintaining his decent form. Scored two runs back and ran third last time out, both over 1600m but on Polytrack whereas he steps over turf this time. Well drawn in barrier No 2. Won’t surprise if he makes the board again. ECLAIR SHADOW (4) made all at his last outing. Opposition is not any stronger and he should be in this for a long way.
RACE 11
Cracking last race with at least five or six runners who can score. BEAR WITNESS (7) scored an impressive win last time out. Tackles slightly better horses but can still hold his own. EASTER MATE (2) has struck a great rapport with Glen Boss. Michael Rodd takes over, and even though he has drawn a horror gate, he should still put in a solid run here. AWATERE (1) is such a genuine performer. Form on the up and will find this a shade easier. Top three finish on the cards. CHASE (11) showed a return to form at his last outing. Not a reliable sort, but if he brings his A-game and from gate No 2, he may deal a blow here.
