Zabeel Sons Becoming Scarce

Thursday, 31 August 2017: Former smart Sydney performer Bryannbo’s Gift may be the only son of the great Zabeel standing at stud in NSW in 2017.

Bryannbo’s Gift is standing at Shipton Lodge Thoroughbreds, a leading spelling, breeding and pre training complex near historic Cobbity, south west of Sydney.
Bryannbo’s Gift has been at stud since 2010 and boasts outstanding fertility percentages including 100% twice, 94.4% and 93.3% in his seasons at Shipton Lodge.
However due to limited support he has had only 67 registered foals for the excellent return of 12 winners from only 21 starters inclkuding the recent Gosford winner Bold Chance.
Bold Chance, a product of a mare by Danehill whose descendants have been very effective with Zabeel, has raced only five times for three wins.
Bryannabo’s Gift’s other winners include Present Sense (four wins), Zooks, Steel Frost, Sparkling Gift, Bryanna, and Gift Of Choice.
Bryannbo’s Gift was bred at Cambridge Stud from the mating of Zabeel with Dantellah, an outstanding performer by Volksraad (Green Desert.
She won seven stakes races in Australia, headed by the G1 Oakleigh Plate and G1 Swettenham Stakes and finished second in the G1 Newmarket at Flemington and the G1 Railway in Auckland.
Bryannabo’s Gift has an unusual dam line in that his second, third and fourth dams, Frosting (Icecapade), Carocake (Caro) and Cake (Hail To Reason) are all American bred.
His fifth dam is the exported New Zealand champion filly Trial Offer. She won 11 races including the Great Northern Oaks, New Zealand Derby and NZ Oaks.
