RACE 1
Again as is the norm with these Class 5 races, it’s hard to single out just one or two runners. DICAPRIO (1) from the in-form Laxon stable runs in this grade for the first time, his run in Class 4 two back had plenty of merit but he finds himself at the top of the weights. LUCKY MISSION (3) is another who is in Class 5 for the first time after 41 starts. Now onto his fifth trainer, he is a solid 1200m performer without being a world-beater. MISS WAIMATAITAI (8) has not jumped away very well in her last two but always grinds away; she is a grade/course/distance winner. QUETZAL (5) is honest but does not have much of a record over the distance which maybe on the short side to win, but has place claims.
RACE 2

This race has plenty of exposed recent form to find a winner. HIDDEN PROMISE (1) put in a strong effort last start over a much shorter trip and won this grade/distance two starts back when given a good push in the market, however, carries 2 ½ kgs more here. SATELLITE PRINCE (4) won in Class 5 over this trip last start and has since trialed 8/8 and placed fourth, comes here with 1 ½ kgs less for this assignment. GOLDEN THUNDER (3) has run in G2 & Benchmark 61 races in his last two and wasn’t disgraced over 1900m last time, he is one to keep a close eye on. BIG BANKER (2) has only been tried this grade/distance on one other occasion and didn’t flatter, but in a race that doesn’t have a lot of depth must rate a hope.
RACE 3

This 22-35 rating race is very mesmerizing to exactly work out what might happen. ALWAYS A WINNER (8) was very disappointing when carrying plenty of Poon support last Sunday; however the blinkers have been added for this run. PERFECT CHALLENGER (5) had his first run back over 1200m for a long time and wasn’t beaten overly far, comes up with all the same conditions here backing up. HEE’S EGO (1) is hard to follow but put in a decent effort last start which was his best run since winning (dead-heat) in June of last year. MILLION ROUND (2) who is either hot or cold can never be discounted in a Div 2 Class 5 contest
RACE 4

Only a small field in the 1000m Class 5 which will make the tactics very interesting. OBSTACLES FREE (2) is showing glimpses of promise. He got too far back last time before thundering home for a luckless fifth. He will be relying on the frontrunners getting tired. The pace in the race should come from D’DON (6) who will look to lead the field. He is a genuine 1000m horse who is holding solid form. ALARANCH (3) loved the 1000m last time and is another with early speed, she led D’Don last time but she is drawn to the outside of D’Don here which might be significant in the battle for the early lead. CASTLE QUEEN (1) is a fast-finishing mare who has a better record over further, however if she is close enough on the bend she should be hitting the line hard. The 59kgs is a massive negative but she might have a class edge on these.
RACE 5

A handy race which features eight horses who have won 12 amongst them in their last 6 runs. MIGHTY CONQUEROR (1) is the winner of his last two but most of all last start when he was very impressive winning by a 1 ½L in 57.96, .20 outside the course record. The 2kg claim of Zawari is a big drawcard and he must rate a major player. DARC BOUNTY (2) ran fifth in the KRA Trophy last start when leading, prior had run well to win in this grade over 1000m, 57.5kgs with a handy 2kg claim from apprentice Amirul Ismadi. SUPER SIX (3) ran a solid race for fourth last Friday night behind Mighty Conqueror, storming home in 22.52 for his closing sectional, yet has never won over this trip of 1100m. POLE PARADISE (5) won a trial in good fashion last week; he has performed over this trip in Class 3 for a solid second placing.
RACE 6

Very open Class 5 contest where there looks to be four or five winning chances. YU LONG EMPEROR (1) gets back into Class 5 for his third attempt in the grade at the top of the weights which would have to be his biggest concern. MILITARY ALLIANCE (5) has had two runs out of Kuah Cheng Tee’s stable in Class 5 1600/1700m, was game in defeat all the way to the line. RAMZES (4) is a 16-start maiden that has been running ok in recent efforts to suggest this might be the type of race he can potentially be a quartet player, he’s had a slight freshen-up. DANGER ZONE (3) went round well supported on the turf last start over a mile, earlier on in his career had performed in better races over this trip. Another one for the quartet.
RACE 7

The top half of the handicaps is where the winner should come from in this Class 4 1100m. UNSURPASSED (2) closed his last-start effort off nicely in 22.88, extra distance should suit this past grade/distance winner. SECRET SQUIRREL (3) won his maiden over this trip and put in a better effort last start behind a runaway winner over 1200m. LEADERSHIP (8) is a new addition to newly licensed trainer Young Keah Yong and had been competitive in some handy races but was disappointing last start. May pay to stick with him. ELITE DIAMOND (1) has been plugging away for the minor end of the prize in the last few runs, this might be a slightly easier contest.
RACE 8
This 1200m Class 4 has a very competitive look to it, with LEGENDARY SUN (1) getting the nod here after a very eye-catching local debut over 1100m last time when beginning from an unfavourable draw, which he gets again here. But that said, he was seen to good effect staying on in a closing sectional of 23.36 and the step-up in trip will suit this Australian 1200m winner and now wears a tongue-tie for this run. SIAM SAPPHIRE (9) is without blinkers now and can give the selection most to think about, having now joined Michael Clements from James Peters. The son of the mighty Showcasing was fifth in a recent trial and has a very good record on the Polytrack and will be well suited back to 1200m. TRIGGER MAN (12) will have to overcome a poor draw here but has not looked back since having the tongue-tie applied four runs back and since has not finished outside of the first four nd the light weight of 51kg is also a positive. SPECIAL RAIN (8) was impressive in a Class 5 last start and can make the frame.
