Thursday, 20 July 2017: Below is the race by race analysis looking at the full Singapore card on Friday the 21st of July, with selections and information on the main contenders

Golden Mile.
Golden Mile.

RACE 1

Open race to kick off proceedings. Barnburgh Lad (5) is dangerous when he is left alone in front. Needs everything to work in his favour. From barrier No 2, he can win in this moderate field. Mongolian Chief (1) has slipped down the ratings and is being eased down in Class 5 company. May find his competitive edge again. John Duke (7) has not been much of a threat lately but his last run was a little more encouraging. Can fill the minors. One O Nine (9) did not finish far behind the winner Arion two weeks ago. Has not improved much but he may run on better than a lot of these.

RACE 2

Energizer (1) has got the foot on the till. Keeps improving with ever run and his turn may have finally arrived especially as he can box-seat from barrier No 1. He will have to be the most wary of Country Boss (2). Still a maiden after five starts but his last run suggests there may be a race for him soon. Will relish extra 200m. Silent Prince (8) ran a much better race with the blinkers on last time out. Holding form, has drawn a handy barrier and is worth including in your exotics. Gold Reward (4) is back after a slight freshen-up. Showed ability at his first prep. May need the run but he can sneak in for a place. Crossover-noseband on. Only query is the awkward alley.

RACE 3

Really Capable (2) tried to steal a march on his rivals at his last start but had no answer to Chopin’s Fantaisie’s burst. Has drawn wide again which does not help his cause, but is still in this with a big say. Former Malaysian Eclipse Splash (1) has not done too badly in three runs at Kranji. Good gate. Keep safe. El Camino (3) accelerated nicely to score at his last start. Not without claims in this. Humdinger (8) was held up for a run between the 500m and the 400m at his last run. Wouldn’t have won but could have finished closer. Has drawn an alley. Place claims.

RACE 4

Quite a few chances emerge here. Eden Garden (9) has yet to score in 19 starts but he has been coming close at recent runs. Knocking on the door and is overdue for a win. Danger Zone (5) finished right behind the placegetters at his last start. Working well and should not be left out. Satellite Prince (2) has lost his way but he did not finish all that far from the winner Across The Sea at his last run. Worth another chance. Amistad (10) ran okay for new yard last time out. Seems to have improved since. Blinkers on. Bears watching.

RACE 5

Interesting contest. Nova Missile (2) got balloted out of the KRA Trophy. In top form and will figure prominently in this. Has drawn in one. He will have to contend with Flak Jacket (1) who nearly stole the race from the front with the blinkers back on last time out. Reverts to Polytrack which he has not raced over for more than two years, but won once on it. Worth considering. Red Dawn (4) let down nicely for third at his last run. Definite chance if things go his way. Dan The Man (6) is the 2016 Karaka Million winner (ex Xiong Feng). It’s taken a while for him to settle in. Is not quite ready yet but on his class, he may pinch a place.

RACE 6

One of those Class 5 races where no horse stands out. Run Cheetah Run (1) closed in late for third at his last outing when back from a six-month layoff. Will strip fitter for this. Leading pick. Satellite Star (4) was not far behind last time out. Does not win often but he may well stake a claim in this. Marble one. Probo Chandroso (5) was up with the pace at his last run but weakened out of it in the run home. Low draw. Include in calculations. Always A Winner (3) was one of the most raced horses last year but has come out only twice this season without really worrying anyone. Place claims only.

RACE 7

Competitive Class 4 race. Golden Mile (10) rushed home but got there too late at his last race. Blinkers are off again. Can make the board. Mastermind (6) is always a major threat when he gets to bowl along in front. If he can cross early from his awkward alley, he will be in this for a long way. Last-start winner Hiko Yunikon (5) ran on smartly to score a nice win at his last start. Seems to have maintained the same form. Follow him again. High Council (1) is back in trip. Looks suited in this. Has drawn the inside gate. Keep in mind.

RACE 8

Tough last race. Flying Winner (6) came off an ideal run to score at his last start. May not have things his way from the bad draw this time, but he can still be counted on for a place. Get Going (8) stayed one-paced at his last couple of outings. May find this slightly easier. Warrants consideration. Brother Wind (5) is not really racing any better with the blinkers on. Jumps from a handy gate. Will be charging home late. Yu Long Emperor (12) has been hitting around the mark for a while now. Still chasing a first win but may have to settle for a place again.
